Issues: the size of the stones increase to a point that they are not useful in a maze. The smallest stones are obviously ideal and a must and yet you can't get them anymore if you upgrade the Locate Gems Spell continuously. This makes me be really confused as to what is the point to this game: Mazing? Or getting big gems quick in the hopes of not getting killed in the meantime?

I keep loosing fairly quickly, even on easy O_o So I'm either bad at this game or my TD skills have gotten horribly rusty.

The questions: What does gold do?
Is there ever an end to the game in its current state? Or is it just
Survival?

I don't know about you, but I've been getting pretty far, especially on easy. your probably rusty... it is about mazing and its about getting stronger gems, just like gem td except they get bigger and there is no end.

gold, so far doesn't do anything, except make the waves harder faster.

Hard to maze effectively if you can't keep the smallest stones around. Managed to get to round 79 last night before getting killed due to lack of maze and gems. >_> Wish you could break big rocks up into smaller pieces. That would REALLY help with mazing.

I was thinking about that too... but you shouldnt have a problem with the amount of gems... you can combine with the ones in the 5 boxes with the ones on the field, if u didn't know...

I know, but what I did was combining the big gems into special gems. A huge amount of firepower goes poof with that, even on Easy. Really, the original Gem TD didnt have that issue, nor the one where the gems grow and you have to rearrange your maze accordingly.

so vesper, i was looking at the special gems, and they are extremely under powered over all. it is like trading 3 gems for 1 gem where those 3 gems can cover more area, and they have more or less the same attack and attack speed they are pretty much the same and their special powers dont really make up for that... you might want to fix that...

Exactly. You must WANT to upgrade your gems. At this moment, you do not cuz the standard gems do everything for you :P

Hmmm. Special gems have special powers, some not available on normal gems, there are boosters too. Also their damage potential is higher than of normal gems. I think it's weird that some people get far and VERY far using only normal gems.

About gems size unsuitable for mazing - well, there are two aspects, one is that you can save your 1x1 rocks somewhere until you'd need em, and another that yes, bigger gems are unsuitable for mazing, although they deal more damage and are faster.

Currently it's only survival, I don't have enough level design ideas for quest base, although I do plan for one, and gold and shards would be for upgrading skills in there.

About balancing special gems - well, for this I need extensive playtesting, as for me an advance of three 8-14 into one 20-40 are worth it, and given their kill counts add up, making more total damage boost, this slightly skews the scales for special gems' favor. But yes, say Amber is seriously weak, but Opal is pretty dam powerful, even if combined out of powerful enough gems (ruby, hyacinth and topaz).
