Re: Geologist TD

Diamond gem? It's too fragile for all that magic to exist in there :P No, sorry, there's quartz instead of diamond.

Vary? Yes of course, although general principles still apply. Booster gems exist (but their boosting range does not grow), instant kill is absent as it's really unbalancing, but a similarly powerful ability exists. Also, you are able to build obstacles to flying monsters, what you couldn't do in Alchemist TD.

Re: Geologist TD

When will a demo be released? I myself am a flash user, except I use CS5.5. I can help if you'd want.

Re: Geologist TD

I wonder should I. A playable version exists, I need alpha testing badly, so far it doesn't feel like there are long-run problems, but an extra tester would be nice. Please send me your e-mail so you could receive the SWF.

Re: Geologist TD

yep, no FLA, as it's a FlashDevelop project. I had to migrate off Flash CS when its trial period expired, after sketching the basics and getting enough impulse to finish the core.

Ooh, could I help out with the project with beta testing, too? :applause:

Re: Geologist TD

spent last month participating in a procedural generation contest, here, the best result so far is this:

My comp spent 8 minutes of CPU time drawing this. I need some time to relax from coding, in the meantime I'd like to hear from TST, AeonMasamune and Emon, if they have tried at Geologist TD and found any bugs or mishaps.

Heeyyy... nice picture. It's a lot better than most of those other '3d' looking MMORPGs. Nice job.

Re: Geologist TD

see, MMORPGs don't have a luxury of drawing a single frame for five minutes :) even if I don't have the optimal algorithms to generate and draw the scene, even if I don't have as much memory and as great a performance. A single tree like this consists of ~40k polygons, 2 polygons per element, and there is about a hundred of instances randomply placed around. MMORPGs have special tricks to lower the actual number of polygons being drawn, some distant ones got a special highly optimized routine to draw them, etc etc, but they have a constraint of 0.04s per frame, which is not the case here. :) Thanks. You can get the SWF link from over there, and play with it too.
